Referred for help with adhd. Put straight on medication. I tried a few, but I either didn't feel any benefit, or side effects were just too great. I asked about a well known newer medication. First he said he hadn't heard of it, then he said it was exactly the same as another I'd already tried. I've since researched it, and that's totally wrong - it's metabolised in the body in a totally different way. He refused to prescribe it. Why couldn't I at least be given a chance to try? At least then I'd know if it would work for me or not. One appointment lasted barely 20 minutes, during which time he must have checked his mobile 2 or 3 times. He didn't seem to understand my condition at all. Hardly surprising since he doesn't specialise in it. Supposed to have referred me for cbt 6 months ago now. Nothing heard, despite me ringing up (he never gave any indication of who would provide it, or where) Seemed like he'd simply washed his hands of me. Told me he thought I had other conditions too, but didn't bother to elaborate what they could be. Hurried and not really listened to. He told me on one appointment I should come back in 3or4 weeks - no appointments for months. I was ill for the next one (Oct), and had to postpone - next appointment March. 3 or 4 weeks turned out to be nearly a year. Taken off his list and told something about not seeing him and having cbt at the same time. I'm no better off now than I was a few years ago....
